Alfred (Pappy) Garrison of Bourbon, passed away Sunday, September 18, 1994 at the age of 99 years. Pappy, as he was known by his family and friends, was born near Berryman, Missouri on July 5, 1895. On August 19, 1917 he was married to Nettie Harper at Huzzah, Missouri and to this marriage nine children were born. Mrs. Garrison preceded him in death in 1968. Pappy had farmed prior to moving to Bourbon in 1944 and had a love of mules and mule teams. He was later employed at Crawford Electric Coop as a lineman until his retirement in 1960. Mr. Garrison was a resident of Gibbs Care Center in Steelville the past two years. He is survived by one son, Melvin Garrison of Peoria Illinois, four daughters, Mildred Pennock of E. Peoria, Illinois, Delma Garrison of Bourbon, Norma Fowler of Dexter, Iowa and Bettie DeVerger of Louisiana, Missouri, two sisters, Nellie Ferguson and Cora Harmon, 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mr. Garrison was preceded in death by one brother, two sons, Edmund and James Garrison, and by two daughters, Lucille Garrison who died in infancy and Claudine Hill. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 1994 from the First Assembly of God Church in Bourbon with Pastors Marvin Ivie and Harold Harrison officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Hill, Jerry Garrison, Dale Pennock, Audie Williams, Greg Garrison and Wesley Sites. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Chapel, Bourbon.
