GRANVILLE HUITT Granville W. Huitt was born January 17, 1913, at Huzzah, Missouri, a son of the late William H. “Billie” and Myrtle (Dicus) Huitt and passed away January 14, 1994, at the Camelot Nursing Center, Farmington, Missouri, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 27 days. December 20, 1941, at Potosi, Missouri, Granville was united in marriage to Rowena Turnbough. They enjoyed over fifty-three years together. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Myrtle Huitt; two sisters, Durcie Wilkinson and Irene Staples; one brother, Everett Usery; four half-brothers, George, Carbey, Ellis and Jimmie Huitt; three half-sisters, Hettie Coleman, Ida Coleman and Frances Nipper and four step-brothers, Glen, Kenneth, Jesse and Zellie Usery. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving and devoted wife, Rowena, of the home in Steelville; one brother, Harry Huitt and wife Etoluia of Sullivan, Missouri; two sisters, Sarah Kaysinger, Cuba, Missouri and Hallie Evans of Godfrey, Illinois; also three step sisters, Myrtle Wright of Bonne Terre, Missouri; Jewel Britton of Cherryville, Missouri and Florence Mayfield of St. Louis, Missouri; one step brother, Charlie Usery and wife Gen of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Virginia (Mrs. Everett) Usery of St. Peters, Missouri; Fred Wilkinson of Cuba, Missouri; James and Opal Turnbough of St. Louis; Geneva Scott, Dolly and Joe Dudley, all of Cahokia, Illinois; Rose Cole of Viburnum, Missouri and Helen Turnbough of Steelville, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Granville W. Huitt lay in state after 3 P.M. Saturday, January 15, 1994, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 1 P.M. Sunday, January 16, 1994, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Musical selection were beautifully provided by vocalists Bruce and Kendall Turnbough. Committal prayers and interment were in Shoal Creek Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. Pallbearers were David Cole, Melvin Harris, Norm Howell, Gary Turnbough, Mike Turnbough and Dennis Usery. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Brakefield, Bill Edgar, Alvin Kaysinger, Dick McInnis, Bill Edgar, Blake Wishon and A. R. “Skip” Wishon. Arrangemeents were under the directn of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
