Emory Jackson Ransom was born January 21, 1899, to the union of Emory Ransom and Margaret Ransom nee Fitzwater, and passed away August 19, 1994, at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 28 days. On October 2, 1921, Emory was united in marriage to Lillie Christopher in Leasburg. Emory was a life long resident of Crawford County and was self- employed in the timber business. He was a member and deacon of the Crossroads Baptist Church. Emory was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie, two sons, Kenny and Ray Ransom, and one daughter Ellen Maness, two brothers Virgil and Clyde Ransom; three sisters, Elsie Harmon, Cecelia Walls and Eurannie Ransom. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his four sons, Delmar, Jack, and Jim Ransom, and John Christopher: four daughters Dorothy Weber, Linda Jurgensmeyer, Sally Hartung and Joy Friedman; two brothers Dewey and Herbert Ransom; two sisters Vetta Dunlap and Fern Hedrick; and over 100 grand, great-grand and great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Emory Jackson Ransom was in state at the Britton Funeral Home in Cuba after 4 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 1994 with Rev. Jim Delacourt and Rev. Tom Wisdom officiating. Interment was in the Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba.
