Lillian Margaret Shoemaker of Bourbon, passed away Thursday, October 20, 1994, at the age of 64 years. Lillian was born September 4, 1930 to Varnie and Hettie Lena Cleffman, (nee Hodge), at Waynesburg, Kentucky, where she was raised and later married to Benjamin Shoemaker. In 1947 they moved to St. Louis and after 17 years, moved to the Bourbon, Missouri area. Lillian loved her family very much, and they describe her as "The best mom ever." She enjoyed many things, such as collecting Indian artifacts, maintaining a fish aquarium, gardening, fishing, and was a person who took pleasure in hard work. She is survived by five sons, Lonnie Shoemaker and wife, Barb of Phoenix, Arizona, Richard Shoemaker and wife, Margo of St. James, Benjie Shoemaker of Fredericktown, Stan Shoemaker and wife, Mel of Bourbon, and Lester Williams, and husband George of Cuba, and Pat Hunter and Husband, John of St. Louis, two step-sons Bennie Shoemaker, James Shoemaker and one step-daughter, Judy Hurst, all of St. Louis, one daughter-in-law, Connie Shoemaker, a special friend Jim Rohan, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Benjamin, a son, Russell, and a step-son, Vernon. A service of remembrance was conducted 12 noon, Tuesday, October 25, 1994 from Hassebroek's Bourbon Chapel with Pastor Oliver Mullen officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba.
