Vernon N. Simmerly of Bourbon, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 1994 at his home, at the age of 57 years. Mr. Simmerly was born March 6, 1936 at Bourbon, to the late Henry and Violet (Wright) Simmerly. He was a long-time resident of the Bourbon area and was employed at the Pea Ridge Mining Company near Sullivan. Vernon enjoyed hunting and fishing and was especially fond of music. He is survived by two sons, Daniel Lee Simmerly and wife Lisa of Bourbon, David Neal Simmerly and wife Sandy of Kissee Mills, Missouri, two daughters, Charlotte Ann Hall and husband Bob and Julie Marie Harrelson and husband Jim all of Springfield, Missouri, two brothers, Leo and Garrell Simmerly, both of Bourbon, four sisters, Shirley Miller and Norma Record, both of Stanton, Marie Vance of Bourbon, and Irene Boner of Nashville, Tennessee, special friend whom he loved as a wife, Shirley Head of Bourbon, 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 1994 from the Eaton Chapel in Bourbon with the Rev. Tom Wehrmann officiating. Interment was in Hardy Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Chapel, Bourbon.
