FRANCES BERNIECE MARTIN (nee Sharp) Frances Berniece Martin, 81, died Monday morning, Oct. 7, 2002, at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton, ILL. The daughter of David Franklin and Viola Sharp (nee Conlin). She was born Sept. 8, 1921 in Cuba, MO. On Sept. 8, 1946, she married William Martin in Cuba, MO. The co-owner of Econowash Coin Laundry, she also worked in ladies ready-to-wear for many years. She was a leader of the motor corps for the Red Cross, a Cub Scout Den Mother, member of the Alton-Wood River Zonta Club and First Presbyterian Church of Alton. In addition to her husband, surviving are a son, Roy Manning Jr., and his wife, Dianne (nee Burton), of Alton;, a granddaughter, Katherine Manning;, two sisters, Betty Schlife of Fullerton, California and Violet Lee Mulder of Cuba;, and three brothers, Eugene C. Long of Oahu, Hawaii, Paul E. Sharp and wife Viola, of Perryville, MO. Leroy A. Sharp of Newbern, N.C. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Viola Sharp, a brother Walter Sharp and a sister, Geneva Hartman Crabtree. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until time of memorial services at 7 p.m., Friday at Elias-Smith Funeral Home of Alton, ILL. Memorials maybe given to the Alzhelmer's Association.
