Daniel James McCabe Ramsey was born December 4, 1850 possibly Pulaski Co., KY. to father R. Ramsey and unknown mother (at this point in our research). Daniel became an orphan due to his parent's death of Typhoid before the start of the Civil War. At age 18, 1868, he migrated from Kentucky to Greene Co., Missouri in a wagon train with the William Greene Estes family and others. There he worked for Dr. Thomas J. Watts as a farmhand and was found in the Greene Co., 1870 Census. November 19, 1871, Daniel married Mary Jane Hedgpeth, sister of the wife of Dr. Watts. They resided in Greene Co. for a while and migrated to Christian Co., Finley Township and were found on the 1880 Christian Co. Census. Daniel and Mary had the following children: D. Ramsey b. 1872 d. 1874; Lenna Ann b. 1874; Sally Myrtle b. 1878; John Jasper b. 1883 Greene Co., Charley Ulman b. 1882, Greene Co.. Daniel and family were farmers. Around 1898 they migrated to Dallas County, Missouri and were living around Schoffield. 1899 brought a desire of change to the family and they left Missouri to migrate to Sumner Co., Kansas. Daniel continued to farm until his death August 1, 1913, in Geuda Springs, Sumner Co., Kansas. Mary Jane Hedgpeth Ramsey d. January 26, 1937 Wellington, Sumner Co., Kansas.
