After migrating from Ohio, the family lived in Greenfield, Hamilton Co., Indiana for some years. Then they migrated to Dallas Co., Missouri. John R. Hoobler had married Missouri Gregg who died leaving him with a small daughter, Effie Viola Hoobler. He met and married Malissa Jane Agee daughter of William Oliver and Mary Elizabeth VERDOT AGEE on February 5, 1880 in Dallas Co., Missouri. They made their home at RedTop, Missouri. John was the proprietor of Midway Nursery or J. B. Hoobler and Sons Nursery on his property at RedTop. Their children are as follows: Flora May Hoobler (my grandmother) born 1880 Dallas Co.; Ida Maude born 1882 Dallas Co.; Henry Housten born 1885 at Halfway, Polk Co., MO; William Arthur born 1888 Bolivar, Polk Co., MO; Myrla Jane born 1892 Dallas Co.; Ona Dare born 1895 Dallas Co.; and Ruth Bryan born 1897 Dallas Co.. John was a farmer/nurseryman, but after an accident with a tree he traded his home at RedTop for a piece of land in Hooker, Texas Co., Oklahoma in 1908. He moved his remaining family there.
