See Merrit Givens family records elsewhere in Daviess Co., Mo. Archives. Isaac was 17, according to his son Virgil, when he participated in the war. So my guess is that he did not enter service until around 1864 or perhaps lied about his age (as many of the young soldiers did) if he was fighting earlier.
