In 1862 he enlisted in Company B, Cavalry Brigade, Confederate States Army, serving until the close of the war, and being a participant in the battle of Iron Mountain. He has resided on his present farm of 200 acres since the close of the war, and has about 50 acres under cultivation. He is one of the worthy citizens of the county, and, owing to his many admirable traits, has many warm person- al friends.
