ELLISON I. CEMETERY, Lincoln Township, Douglas County, MO This cemetery is located on the former James Ellison Homestead. At the time it was copied it was owned by Boyd Barnum who purchased it in 1938. James Ellison arrived in Douglas County, MO in the early 1840’s and the property was kept in the family until after 1911. It was overgrown with weeds, etc. when copied October 6, 1980 and the owner did advise there was once a pile of stones all broken on the property. There were several graves with markers buried beyond view, as well as several rocks which were possibly grave markers or footstones. Although it appeared to have at least 28 unmarked graves, only two stones were intact laying in the cemetery. It is located north of Ellison II. Cemetery, off Hwy. 14, about 9 miles West of Ava, MO. ELLISON, James died 5 October 1852, aged 69y, 3m, 24d ELLISON, Lucinda born 25 Dec 1838, died 19 Jan 1892 Weep not she is not dead but sleepth.
