Dunklin County, Missouri Deaths - James W. Murphy & wife James W. Murphy (Jim) born Oct 1850 Scott County, Indiana; died May 2 0r 3 1906 White Oak, Missouri of Malaria Fever (He is my grandfather). I do not know if their death notices were ever published in any of your local newspapers, as I got no response from them when I wrote them a letter several years ago. His second wife, Elizabeth M. E. (Walker) Murphy born in Stewart County, TN, died May 11 or 13, White Oak, Missouri of Malaria Fever. The family of James W. Murphy (Jim) knew that he and his second wife both died in White Oak, Missouri. I can't locate any record for them in Jennett, Mo or Springfield, Mo. His occupation was: Coopering (Making Barrels). Some of Elizabeth M. E. (Walker) Murphy's family still reside in Dunklin County, Missouri. However, they don't seem to have an exact record of their deaths either. I can only hope that this information will be added to your records because this information was well known by the first family of James W. Murphy (Jim) and was repeated to their children and grandchildren through out their life many times. Mrs. Lela B.
