Biographical Sketch of Frederick W. Becker, Franklin County, Missouri >From "History of Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Crawford and Gasconade Counties", Biographical Appendix, Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1888. ********************************************************************** Frederick W. Becker, farmer, was born in the year 1850 on the farm where he now resides. He is the son of Peter and Mary (Kneifer) Becker, both natives of Germany. They came to America when young, and were among the early settlers of Franklin County. After pur- chasing the place where our subject now lives they never moved, but remained there the balance of their days. They both died in the year 1861, the mother in February, and the father in March. Of their family of six children, four now living, Frederick being the third. He reached his majority on the farm, and received his educa- tion principally in German, although he attended English schools for some time. In 1881 he married Louisa Bohnenkamp, a native of Frank- lin County, born in 1854. The result of this union was the birth of two children, Ida W. and Amanda W. After marriage Mr. Becker settled upon his present farm, which consists of 270 acres of land. He is a Republican in politics, and has been a resident of Franklin County for thirty-seven years.
