Brinkmann, Franklin County, Missouri >From "History of Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Crawford and Gasconade Counties", Biographical Appendix, Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1888. ********************************************************************** John F. Brinkmann, retail liquor dealer of Washington, is a native of Germany, born in 1847, son of Peter H. and Ilsabein (Schwake) Brink- mann, both natives of Germany, born in 1819 and 1817, respectively. In 1855 Peter H. and family immigrated to America and settled in Warren County, Mo., where he lived seven years, at the end of which time he moved to Washington and worked at a planing-mill at South Point. About 1872 he returned to Warren County, purchased a farm, and in two years sold out and bought 270 acres in Franklin County, where he settled, and where he has since lived. He has been twice married; his first wife died in 1862. She was the mother of four children: John F., Louise (wife of Henry Langemann), Henry H. and Harman H. There were four children by the second marriage: Lena, August, Charles and Ida. Our subject was the eldest by the first marriage; he was seven years of age when he came to America. He attained his growth on the farm, and at the age of eighteen began learning the carpenter's trade in the planing mills at South Point, and followed that business twelve years. In 1877 he established his present business, which he has since continued. In 1868 he married Miss Henrietta Windau, who was born in Germany in 1844. The fruits of this union were five children: August H., Ida, Mattie, Emil F. H. and Clara. In politics Mr. Brinkmann is a Republican, and he is a member of the St. Peter's Evangelical Church. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
