Biographical Sketch of John R. Mitchell, Franklin County, Missouri >From "History of Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Crawford and Gasconade Counties", Biographical Appendix, Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1888. ********************************************************************** John R. Mitchell is one of the enterprising farmers of Franklin County, Mo. He was born February 15, 1851, and is the second in the family of four children born to John T. and Betsey (Warren) Mitchell. He was reared on a farm in the county of which he is now a resident, and rec- eived his education in the common schools. He began doing for himself in 1868, and now owns 160 acres of well improved land, upon which he has erected a comfortable residence. In 1875 he married Mary A., the daughter of William H. Souders, and of the five children born to them four are living, viz.: Ida E., Minnie L., Willie T. and Sarah M. By hard work, good management and economy Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell have been very successful in building up a home and fortune.
