The father and mother, whose maiden name was Margaret Mienke, were born in Hanover, Germany, in 1798 and 1800, and died in 1863 and 1852, respec- tively. Our subject is the seventh of a family of eight children. In 1865 he emigrated to the United States, located in St. Louis, and began working in a glue factory, afterward engaging in moving furniture, at which he soon had three teams busy. He conducted the business twelve years, and the last three had a regularly established furniture store. In 1874 he was in the grocery business. From 1883 to 1886 he was pro- prietor of the hotel and saloon at the union depot, and in the fall of the latter year came to Washington, and purchased the Farmers' Home and Stock Yards, which he has since conducted. On the first Friday and Saturday of each month he has a stock sale at public auction, for the accommodation of the public. In 1878 Mr. Mohrmann married Miss Maggie Scheipper, who was born in Brussels, Calhoun Co., Ill., in 1843 and who bore him one child, Bernhard. In his political views Mr. Mohrmann is a Democrat, and he and his wife are members of the Catholic Church. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
