Biographical Sketch of Theodore Neukum, Franklin County, Missouri >From "History of Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Crawford and Gasconade Counties", Biographical Appendix, Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1888. ********************************************************************** Theodore Neukum, a farmer and stock raiser, is a native of Baden, Ger- many, and was born May 2, 1836. His parents, Martin and Liberal (Meyer) Neukum, were also natives of Baden, where the former served for some time as a magistrate of his native village; he was born in 1801, was a farmer and saloon keeper, was a son of Mathias Neukum, and died about 1876. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Neukum were memebers of the Catholic Church. Theodore Neukum was reared on a farm and received a common school education. He began life for himself when twenty-four years old, and has been very successful. He came to the United States in 1866, settled first in St. Louis, where he worked in the stock yards three years, and in December, 1869 removed to the farm, where he has since resided, and which consists of 200 acres of improved land. He was married, in 1859, to Miss Justina Andlefinger; a native of Baden, and they are the parents of fifteen children, viz.: Mary (deceased), John, August (deceased), Frank (deceased), Magdalena, Mary, Lizzie (deceased), Anna (deceased), Wilhelmina, Esther, William (deceased), August (deceased), Richard (deceased), Joseph (deceased), and Martin (deceased). Mr. and Mrs. Neukum are members of the Catholic Church.
