Biographical Sketch of W. E. Valentine, Franklin County, Missouri >From "History of Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Crawford and Gasconade Counties", Biographical Appendix, Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1888. ********************************************************************** W. E. Valentine, the subject of this sketch, is the son of Eli and Nancy S. (Harris) Valentine, natives of Illinois and Kentucky, respec- tively. The father came to Franklin County at a very early day, and followed farming until his death, which occurred in 1865. The mother is now living in Texas. Our subject was born in Franklin County, Mo., December 29, 1851 and was reared on the farm, and educated in the public schools of that county. He has followed agricultural pursuits as an avocation, and now owns a fine farm three and a half miles from Washington, on the Washington and Union road. He served as deputy sheriff of Franklin County from 1876 until 1880. In September of the latter year he was united in marriage to Miss Belle Todd, who was born in Franklin County, Mo., and to this marriage were born three children, all living.
