Franklin County, Missouri Wills - MATHEW JAMES BATES 20 APR IL 1914 In the Name of God, Amen. I, M. J. Bates of Gerald, in the Township of Boone in the County of Franklin, State of Missouri being of Sound and disposing mind and memory do make, publish, and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other Wills by me at any time heretofore made in manner following, That is to say. I. It is my desire that all my debts and funeral expenses be fully paid as soon after my decease as practicable. II. I give and bequeth to the Heirs of my deceased Daughter Theresa Ann (submitter's note: wife of John Murphy) - One Dollar. III. I give and bequeth to my Daughter Pica May the Wife of Delbert Millard - One Dollar. IV. I give and bequeth to my Daughter Dacy Pink the Wife of John Cowan - One Dollar. V. I give and bequeth to my Daughter Bertha P(?). the Wife of Ernest Lewis Rays - One Dollar. VI. I give and bequeth to my Sone David Russel Bates One Dollar. VII. I give and bequeth to my Son Daniel Arthur Bates One Dollar. VIII. I give and bequeth to my Daughter Penny Votaw the Wife of Jessie Votaw One Dollar. IX. I give and bequeth to my Son Leo Edgar Bates One Dollar. X. I give and bequeth to my Daughter Mary Edna Bates One Dollar. XI. I give and bequeth to my Son Lester Cliffton Bates One Dollar. XII. I give and bequeth to my Son John Buel Bates One Dollar. XIII. I give and bequeth to my Daughter Louise Millard Bates One Dollar. XIV. The N.E. of N.E. qr of Sec. 34, containing 40 acres, the N. 1/2 of S.W. of S.W. qr Sec. 26 containing 20 acres and the N.W. of S.W. and the S.W. of N.W. qr of Sec. 26 containing 80 acres and all lying and being in Township Forty two of Range Four, West in the County of Franklin, State of Missouri, and All the rest, residue and remainder of the property and estate as well Real as, Personal, and wheresoever situated and being which at the time of my death shall belong to me or be subject to my disposal by Will, I give devise and bequeth to my beloved Wife Mary Lucinda Bates, for and during the period of her Natural Life. XV. After the death of my beloved Wife XVI. I give devise and bequeth to my Daughter Lida Eaden Wife of J. W. Davis One Hundred Dollars. XVII. I give, devise and bequeth to the Heirs of my Daughter Theresa Ann, Wife of John Murphe, deceased, One Hundred Dollars. XVIII. I give, devise and bequeth to my Daughter Pica May the Wife of Delbert Millard One Hundred Dollars. XIX. I give and bequeth to my Son David Russel, One Hundred and thirty Doller to reimburse him for money advanced to me. XX. The remainder shall be equally devided, that is to say they shall share alike between the following named Children, Dacy Pink Cowan, Bertha P. Rays, David Russel Bates, Penny Votaw, Leo Edgar Bates, Mary Edna Bates, Lester Clifton Bates, John Buel Bates, Louise Millard Bates. I hereby nominate and appoint my beloved Wife Mary Lucinda Bates to be the Executor and Administratrix of this my Will, without Bond.
