Biographical Sketch of Frederick Schuetz, Gasconade County, Missouri >From "History of Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Crawford and Gasconade Counties", Biographical Appendix, Goodspeed Publishing Company, 1888. ********************************************************************** Frederick Schuetz (deceased) was born in Wurtemberg, Germany, where he grew up and received his education. In early life he learned the sadd- ler's trade, though later he engaged in agricultural pursuits. For a companion in life he chose Christiana Prenzel, also a natibe of Wurtem- berg, and to their union were born nine living children, of whom seven are in the States, and two in South America. In 1865 the parents and children came to America, found their way to Gasconade County, and here the father and mother passed the remainder of their days, the former dying at the age of fifty-eight, and the latter at the age of sixty- five. The youngeest of the boys, August, was born in Wurtemberg, Ger- many, in 1851, and was educated in the old country. On coming to this county he engaged in agricultural pursuits, and has since continued this occupation, being the owner of 138 acres. In 1878 he married Margaret Pfotenhauer, a native of Gasconade County, who bore him six children, two sons and four daughters.
