Gasconade County, Missouri Deeds - Samuel Cowen to John Oliver Warranty Book E page 64 - 65 Samuel Cowen to John Oliver March 25, 1844 to April 9, 1844 This Indenture made and entered into this twenty fifth day of March A.D. 1844 by and between Samuel Cowen and Polly his wife of the County of Gasconade and State of Missouri of the one part and John Olliver of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth; that the said Samuel Cowen and Polly his wife for and in consideration of the sum of seventy five Dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said John Olliver, his heirs and assigns forever, all of the following Real Estate, to wit, the S. W. quarter of the N. W. fractional quarter of Section No 4, in Township No 44, of Range No 6 west, containing 40 acres more or less. To have and to hold said land with all and singular the assurtenances and heriditaments thereunto belonging or in any wise assertaining, unto him the said John Olliver his heirs and assigns, forever, and the said Samuel Cowen and Polly his wife do agree to warrant and forever defend the title of said land free from themselves their heirs and assigns and from the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. In Testimony whereof, we hereunto set our seals and hands this day and year above written. Samuel (his mark) Cowen (Seal) Polly (her mark) Cowen (Seal) State of Missouri County of Gasconade Be it remembered that on this 9th day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and forty four before me the undersigned Clerk of Gasconade County Court, within and for the County of Gasconade and State of Missouri personally appears Samuel Cowen and Polly his wife both personally known to me as being the persons whose names are subscribed and severally acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned. She the said Polly being by me the first made acquainted with the contents thereof, and examined separate and part from her husband, whether she executed said deed, and relinquishes her Dower to the lands and tenements therein mentioned voluntarily freely and without compulsion or undue influence of her said acknowledges and declares that she executed said deed and relinquished her dower to the lands and tenements there in mentioned, voluntarily freely and without compulsion or undue influence of the said husband.
