Biographical Sketch of R. L. Whaley, Gentry County, Missouri >From "History of Gentry and Worth Counties", Biographical Sketches of the Bench and Bar, St. Joseph, Mo.: National Historical Company, 1882. ********************************************************************** R. L. whaley is a native of Hancock County, Georgia, where he was born, May 30, 1848. He is the son of J. R. and Martha Whaley. His mother's maiden name was Walker. He entered Bowden College, Georgia, in 1869, where he received a classical education, and was graduated in 1872. After leaving school he began the study of law in Cleveland, Tennessee, in the office of S. P. Grant, where he remained for the space of eight- een months, when he was admitted to the practice in Cleveland. Before engaging in the practice of his profession, he came to Gentry County, Missouri, during the year 1874, and located in Albany, where he has re- sided ever since, following his profession and furnishing abstracts. March 30, 1880 he married Miss Maggie Clelland, of Gentry County.
