Abell, 83, a native of Stanberry, who was taken by death last Thursday at eh Gentry County Memorial hospital at Albany, where she had been a patient nearly six weeks. The rites were conducted by the Rev. Keith Markham, pastor of the Stanberry Baptist church and burial was in High Ridge cemetery under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Fred A. Heyde of St. Joseph, a nephew, George E. Hayett of Kansas City, Six great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. For the last few years she has been very close to her next door neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Frederick and children. Mrs. Abell, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Ella May Butler, was born January 31, 1883, in Stanberry, where she resided until she married C. M. Pierce, a dispatcher here for the Wabash railroad. She and Mr. Pierce later lived in Canada, Old Mexico and made five years' proof on 320 acres of land four miles from Nara Visa, NM. After having been a widow for six years, she married Wilbur L. Abell in January 1920. they lived on the Abell farm near Stanberry until his health failed in 1934 and they moved to their home in Stanberry. Mr. Abell preceded her in death in 1936. Mrs. Abell was a member of the Stanberry Baptist church and was very active in the church as long as her health allowed.
