All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, August 1965: Mrs. Armstrong: Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. Opal May Armstrong, 61, Stanberry, who was taken by death Sunday morning in the Gentry County Memorial hospital, Albany, following a long illness. The rites were conducted by the Rev. Charles E. Chandler, pastor of the Stanberry Christian church, and burial was in the High Ridge cemetery. Mrs. Armstrong, daughter of William H. and Minnie Summa Karr, was born Feb. 6, 1904, on a farm near Gentry, MO. She was a lifelong resident of Gentry county. The only immediate survivors are her parents. Her mother is presently a paitient in the Gentery County Memorial hospital. Mr. Karr, who is recovering from a recent serious hip injury, is at home and manages to get to town frequently. Married in 1929: The former Miss Opal May Karr and Harry D. Armstrong were united in marriage Sept. 28, 1929, in Albany. Mr. Armstrong, a retired Wabash Railroad Co., conductor, preceded her in death here Sept. 26, 1964. Mrs. Armstrong, who was member of the Stanberry Christian church, was employed by the South-western Bell Telephone Co. here as an operator for many years. She had been a patient in the Albany hospital and St. Joseph hospitals for nearly a year.
