All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Tri-County News; Friday, December 28, 2001: Maxine (Rethford) Ayers, 71, King City, died Dec. 19, 2001 at a St. Joseph Hospital. Mrs. Ayers, a homemaker, was a nurse's aide in various nursing homes, including King City Manor. Born Sept. 20, 1930, in Buffalo, Mo., she graduated from Fordland, Mo. high school. She moved to King City in 1960. Mrs. Ayers was a member of the Hammer Memorial United Methodist Church, King City. On Jan. 10, 1948, she married Carl D. Ayers in Harrison, AR. He survives at the home. Additional survivors include a daughter, Kathy Harris, Maysville; a son, L. D. "Short" Ayers, Cameron; two sisters, Gerry Snapp, King City and Bobbie Foster, St. Joseph; a brother, Robert Rethford, Carson City, CA.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Audie L. and Freda O. Rethford and an infant brother. Funeral services were held on Dec. 21 at the Gibson Funeral Home in King City, conducted by Rev.
