All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, Thursday, March 29, 1951: Mrs. Roy Bentley buried Tuesday: Dies Sunday at her home north of city after long illness: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Roy Bentley Tuesday afternoon at the Church of Christ at Alanthus, conducted by the Rev. Edward Andrews of Ottawa, Kan. Burial was in the High Ridge cemetery here. Mrs. Bentley, age 49, a resident of Worth and Gentry counties all her life, died about 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the the family home about five miles west of Gentry. She had been in failing health for four years and was seriously ill the past six months. The daughter of the late Jasper and Josephine Barnes, she was born Aug. 16, 1901, north of Albany. Her early life was spent in that section. She was married to Mr. Bentley Sept. 1, 1920. Much of their married life was spent in the Gentry and Alanthus vicinities. More than 30 years ago she united with the Church of Christ at Alanthus and remained a member of that church throughout the remainder of her life. Surviving are her husband, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Maxine Graham, Stanberry; two sons, Robert and Ellis Bentley, Gentry; three sisters, Mrs. Herbert Allison and Mrs. Henry Pierce, Stanberry, and Mrs. Chester Gray, Carrollton, Mo.; four grandchildren and other relatives.
