All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond Stanberry Headlight, Thursday, March 1, 1951: Hold Sunday rites for Ame Branson: Stanberry garage mechanic, fireman, died last Thursday, after illness of several weeks: Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock for Ame Branson, 61 years old, local garage mechanic and fireman. The last rites were held from the First Christian church here and were conducted by the Rev. Chas. R. Hagee, pastor of the church. Burial was in the High Ridge cemetery. Branson died last Thursday at his home here, after an illness of several weeks. He had been under the constant care of a physician since Christmas. He had been a member of the Stanberry fire department for several years and members of the fire organization served as pallbearers Sunday. Born near Denver, Mo., he was the son of Joe and Martha Black Branson. He attended school near Denver and lived there during his early manhood. Before moving to Stanberry, he had also resided at Fairfax, Mo., and St. Joseph. A resident of this city for more than eight years, he had organized the Poe and Branson Body and Fender works. Later he was employed as a mechanic at the Gilliland garage here. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alma Branson, of the home; three sons, Homer Branson, of Shreveport, La.; Cleo Branson, San Diego, Calif., and J. W. Branson, Denver, Colo.; and three daughters, Mrs. Mazie Boyer of Fairplay, Colo., and Rachel and Wanda Branson of the home. Survivors also include three step-daughters, Mrs. Maxine Craven of Genoa, Colo.; Mrs. Audrey Parks of Albany and Mrs. Betty Wiederholt of Stanberry; and two stepsons, James Ballard of Albany and Dwane Ballard of Omaha, Neb. He also leaves 16 grandchildren.
