Brown: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Stanberry Christian church for Frank W. Brown, 86, a long-time Stanberry resident, who was taken by death late Monday afternoon at his home here, following a long illness. The rites will be conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Donald Tiller, and the Rev. Russell Evans of the Island City community. Burial will be in the High Ridge cemetery, under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maude Brown, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Bert Alcorn, Stanberry; a son, Dean Brown, Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Brown,son of the late J. C. and Amelia Ward Brown, was born September 8, 1882, in Gilman City, Mo. He and the former Mrs. Maude Dean were united in marriage February 24, 1907, in the home of her parents in Altamont, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Brown farmed in the Gilman City area from their marriage day until 1937. They then operated a restaurant in Gentry for two years. The Browns entered the restaurant business in Stanberry in 1930. Their son-in-law and daughter, Bert and Audree Alcorn, joined them in the food- serving business here in 1947 at their cafe location in the old bank building. The Browns and the Alcorns moved to the Midway cafe in 1949 and operated that establishment until it was sold in October, 1964. Mr. Brown was a member of the Christian church. Most downtown business firms have indicated they will be closed for the funeral from 2 to 3 p.m. today, according to J. T. Norment, president of t he Stanberry Luncheon Club.
