Hudgins at Whitesville, Missouri in 1848 or the following year. Some years after this, a congregation was organized in his own neighborhood, a house of worship built, he having most of the burden to bear. He was chosen Elder, which position he ably filled for years until the organization moved to Island City, when at his own request he was released from that responsible position, but continued to take an active part in all meetings, and by prayers, exortations, and words of love, ever watched and guarded the true interests of the church"
