Mr. Chaney had been employed at Altec in St. Joseph until leaving three years ago do to ill health. Born in St. Joseph on Aug. 28, 1951, he was a lifelong resident of Stanberry. Mr. Chaney attended a high school and welding trade school. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stanberry. Mr. Chaney was preceded in death by his father, William E.; a brother, Johnny Baker; and an infant sister, Beverly Chaney. Survivors include a son, Joseph A. Chaney; a daughter, Desree J. Chaney, King City; his mother, Waunita B. Chaney, Stanberry; a brother, Bill Chaney, Stanberry and a sister, Martha Kirk, Stanberry. Funeral services were held on March 8 at First Baptist Church with burial in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry. Arrangements were handled by Johnson Funeral Home.
