All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, Thursday, April 30, 1953: William Cogdill, 86-year-old former resident of the Stanberry area, died last Thursday morning at his home in Everly, IA., following a stroke suffered earlier. Mr. Cogdill was a well known farmer of the Stanberry area for a number of years before the family moved to Iowa. He was married here to Miss Tillitha Short and they were the parents of six children. Mrs. Cogdill died shortly after leaving this vicinity. The body was brought to the Phillips mortuary here Sunday morning and funeral services were held that afternoon at the Stanberry Baptist church, with the Rev. Don Stanley officiating. Burial was in High Ridge cemetery. Surviving him are his widow and the six children: Mrs. Mattie Terry and Mrs. Goldie Jacobs, Spencer, IA.; Mrs. Lois Williams, Cherokee, IA.; Harry Cogdill, Royal, IA.; Fred Cogdill, Kansas City, and Albert Cogdill of the state of California. Ira and Harvey Short of Stanberry are nephews of Mr. Cogdill.
