Mr. Colville was born Jan. 6, 1896, northwest of Union Star in Andrew County and had lived in that area most of his life. He moved to King City Manor in 1997. Mr. Colville worked as a mechanic for many years and owned and operated Colville Implement in Union Star for 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War I and had been a member of the King City American Legion Post #132 since 1921. He was also a member of the Union Star United Methodist Church and the former Union Star Lions Club. On Dec. 12, 1922, he married the former Esther Garretsen; who died on Feb. 20, 1942. He then married Bertha Johnson on Mov. 17, 1945, she preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 1964. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Charles Orr and Della Munger Colville; a brother, Robert Colville; two half-brothers, Ira and Henry Cook and a sister, Lottie Swan. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on July 22 at the United Methodist Church in Union Star, with Rev. Cleo Colville, officiating. Music was provided by Mike Tritten, organist. Pallbearers were Darrell Colville, Charles Curran, Tyler Evans, Dean Johnson, Gordon Howitt and Dick Pulley. Military services were under the auspices of King City American Legion Post #132. Arrangements were handled by Gibson Funeral Home, King City. Interment was in Star Chapel Cemetery, north of Empire Prairie. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, Union Star in care of Gibson Funeral Home, P. O. Box 552, King City, MO. 64463.
