All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, Thursday, March 5, 1953: Mrs. Mary Conover dies: Mrs. Mary Conover, a resident of Stanberry and vicinity for many years, died Sunday morning at the St. Francis hospital at Wichita, Kan., where she had been a patient for about two weeks, suffering from a heart ailment. She had resided here from 1903 until about two years ago, when she went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ersel Stephenson, at Wichita. Mrs. Conover was born Nov. 16, 1872, at Chrisman, ILL., the daughter of Noah and Sarah Boston. She was married in Illinois to Charles E. Conover. After leaving Illinois, they farmed for a time at Clarinda, IA., and then came to Stanberry in 1903, where they farmed until his death Aug. 7, 1920. She was a member of the Stanberry Methodist church and of the Royal Neighbors lodge. Surviving her are the one daughter, Mrs. Stephenson; two sisters, Mrs. George Staggs of Savannah, MO. and Mrs. Ocie Haley of Escondido, Calif.; one brother, Ward Boston, Moberly, MO.; four grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. One son, Arthur Conover, died in 1942 at Martinsburg, MO. The body was brought to Stanberry Monday and funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Phillips chapel, with the Rev. J. Frederick Lawson officiating. Burial was in the High Ridge cemetery.
