All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, Thursday, March 22, 1951: Dr. Coppersmith succumbs Sunday: Well known resident of this area had practically retired from practice of dentistry here: Dr. A. W. Coppersmith, a Stanberry dentist for nearly 50 years, died early Sunday morning at the St. Francis hospital in Maryville, where he had been a patient the past week. He had been in failing health for three years and had been practically retired from his profession the past year. Dr. Coppersmith, age 73, was born on the Coppersmith farm, one-half mile north of Stanberry and practically , his entire life had been spent in this vicinity. He attended the old Stanberry normal and, in 1901, was graduated from the Western Dental college in Kansas City. Soon after his graduation, he returned to Stanberry and until 1904 was associated as an assistant in the dental offices of the late Dr. R. R. Dunshee. He then opened offices here and also did dental work on certain days in Clyde and Ravenwood. In early life he united with the Baptist church here. He also had been a member of the Northwest Missouri Dental society for many years. Dr. Coppersmith was the son of the late Anthony and Catherine Coppersmith early settlers in this vicinity. Surviving are one sister, Miss Emma Coppersmith of Stanberry, one brother, Leo C. Coppersmith, North Hollywood, Calif., and other relatives. Funeral arrangements are still incomplete, pending information from Chief Engineer Harold Schubert, a nephew, who is on sea duty with the U. S. navy. Services will be held at the First Baptist church here, with the Rev. Don Stanley, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the High Ridge cemetery.
