Born April 8, 1937, in Bigalow, Ms. Ellis was an ordained pastor in the Assembly of God church, having been ordained on Nov. 20, 1992. Ms. Ellis atteneded Elementary and secondary school in King City, CA. and Salinas, CA., and received her G.E.D. in 1985. She was formerly employed as a PBX operator at Old American Nut Co. in Bellflower, CA. and was manager of convenience stores in Downey, CA. and Stanberry, MO. Most recently she was employed as a social worker in Huntsville, MO. She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Smith. Surviving are her mother and step-father, Winnie and Alva Stanley, Bonners Ferry, ID.; a daughter, Debbie McCarty, Stanberry; a son, Curt Ellis, Jefferson City; two brothers, Jim Smith, Bryson, CA. and Gordon Stanley, Bonners Ferry, ID.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Graveside services and interment were held on Dec. 28 at the High Ridge cemetery in Stanberry. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hodges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
