NEWS-PRESS; SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2005; B3 Harlan J. Funk 1910-2005; KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Harlan J. Funk, 94, Kansas City, formerly of Albany, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at North Kansas City Hospital. Born in New Hampton, Mo., on Nov. 14, 1910, Mr. Funk lived on a farm outside of New Hampton for most of his life before retiring in Albany. The last two-years he lived with his son and family in Kansas City. He was a member of the New Hampton United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board and the board of trustees. On Jan. 24, 1934, he married Alice Forbis. They were married for 63 years. She preceded him in death on Sept. 4,1997. He also was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. and Ethel (Ogbum) Funk; and his brother, Harry Funk. He is survived by a son, James and his wife, Cris, of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, at the Roberson-Poley Chapel, Albany. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the chapel. Friends may call after 8 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial: Grandview Cemetery, Albany. Memorial contributions: New Hampton United Methodist Church in care of the Roberson-Polley Chapel, 403 N.
