All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Herald, May 18, 1922: Bertha Gillette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Gillette, was born near Stanberry June 22, 1883; died at the Noyes Hospital, St. Joseph, MO., May 12th, 1922, aged 38 years, 10 months, 20 days. She was married on Dec. 26th 1900, to Sherman Crutchelow. To this union two children were born, Nellie and Guy. After the death of her husband on May 11, 1914, she moved to a new house on her father's farm where she tenderly cared for her daughter and son. On Feb. 18, 1918, she was married to W. H. Richards of Lafayette. To this union one son was born, who died in infancy. In September, 1901, she confessed her faith in Christ and united with the Island City church, where she remained a faithful member until her death. Her husband, daughter and son, father, mother, brothers and sisters, besides many other relatives, and friends remain to mourn her loss. Funeral services were conducted at Lafayette church Sunday, May 14, 1922 at 2:30, by W. C. Whitehouse of King City, ater which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery there.
