News-Press; Wednesday, Feburary 1, 2006 William E. Groomer 1922-2006; STANBERRY, Mo. — William “Bill” E. Groomer, 83, Stanberry, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at the Albany, Mo., hospital. Bill, the son of Claud and Gertrude (Starmer) Groomer, was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Pattonsburg, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Opal, Helen, Jewell, Mildred, Ruby and Wanda. On April 13, 1947, he married Lela Dollars in King City, Mo. She survives of the home. He also is survived by his daughter, Joyce (Gary) Howren; and son, John (Debbie) Groomer, all of Stanberry; and four grandsons, Bret and Clint Howren; Jared (Theresa) Groomer and Nicholas Groomer. Bill co-owned the Skelly Service Station and later co-owned Dollar’s Clothing Store. He had contracted the Stanberry school busses for 28 years at the time of his retirement. He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of Raymond Sager American Legion Post No. 260, Stanberry; and Stanberry First Baptist Church. Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the First Baptist Church, Stanberry. There is no scheduled family visitation; however, friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at Roberson-Polley Chapel, Stanberry. Burial: High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry.
