Groom, 86, Albany, died May 20, 1994, at Gentry County Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 18, 1907, at Alanthus. He graduated from Albany High School in 1927 and attended Palmer College in Albany and Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, where he received degrees in mathematics, general agriculture and physical education. He also attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. Mr. Groom taught in Gentry County rural schools, the Stanberry public schools, St. Joseph and Albany schools. He was superintendent of Denver High School for two years. After retiring from education in the 1970's, he farmed and was involved in other business. He married Irene Neal Sep. 1, 1934 at Stanberry. She survives. Other survivors include a brother, Lewis, Meridian, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews. Services were May 23 at Roberson-Polley Funeral Home, Albany, with burial in High Ridge Cemetery. The family suggests donations to the Albany Cancer Fund.
