Hartsough was born in Ohio Sept. 1st, 1849, and departed this life Dec. 27th, 1915, age 70 years, 3 mos. and 26 days. She resided in Ohio for 34 years and in 1879 came to Missouri. In 1894 she took up her residence in St. Joseph, Mo., where she lived at the time of her death. The deceased was married to Albert L. Hartsough in 1872. Six children were born to this union, all of whom survive her; Charles and Harry of Hooker, South Dakota; Edwin and Mrs. Frank Brumback of St. Joseph, Mo.; Miss Katherine of San Francisco, Cal., and Mrs. Bauer of Ft. Morgan, Colo. While the children were of school age and during the pastorates of Revs. J. H. Poland and W. B. Christy, Sister Hartsough was an active christian worker, her family being raised near the site of the old church. She began her christian life in early girlhood, even so early in life that the family does not recall when she was not a christian. At the time of her conversion she united with the M.E. church, to which she has been a faithful and devoted member, having her membership in 1st church, St. Joseph, Mo. Sister Hartsough had been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Bauer, of Fort Morgan, Colo., and recently had gone to make an over Christmas visit with her sons, Harry and Charles, in Hooker, South Dakota, where she died, being sick only a short time, although she was not strong, having suffered two light strokes of paralysis in recent years. With Him who saves His people unto the end, we commend her spirit, pointing the bereaved to His Grace, which is sufficient unto all our needs. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Saturday, Jan. 1, 1916, at 1 p.m., conducted by Rev. Brown. Burial at High Ridge cemetery. A.C.B.
