Jones, wife of Marvell P. Jones, operator of a garage here for a number of years, died last Wednesday morning at her home in Seattle, Wash. She had been seriously ill for about two months. The body was returned to Stanberry Sunday night. Funeral services were held for her Tuesday afternoon at the Stanberry Christian church, conducted by the Rev. Chas. R. Hagee, the pastor. Interment was in the High Ridge cemetery. Stanberry and the Island City community had been her home much of her life, until the family moved to Seattle about 10 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Smith and was born July 20, 1893, on a farm near Island City. She was 57 years old at the time of her death. She was married to Mr. Jones Sept. 14, 1919. For about two years they made their home on a ranch in Idaho. They also farmed near Parnell and Island City several years and then came to make their home in Stanberry. During her residence here, she became known as a writer of poetry, some of which was published. She also raised and marketed large numbers of canary birds. She was a member of the Island City Christian church. Surviving are her husband, of the home; two sons, Forrest Jones, Seattle, and Cpl. Cecil V. Jones, of the army signal corps at Fort Monmouth, N. J.; five sisters, Mrs. Sammie Johnson and Misses Helen and Fern Smith, all of Stanberry, Mrs. Daisy Aley of Maryville and Mrs. Hildred Nixon, Paris, Ark.
