All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Tri-County News, Friday, May 14, 1999: Sara Elizabeth (Butterbaugh) Kurtright, 93, Stanberry, died May 5, 1999, at the Gentry County Memorial Hospital in Albany. Mrs. Kurtright was a city librarian and worked at the DePriest-Normant Drugstore. She retired as city tax collector in 1988 after 26 years. Born in Chanute, KS., on May 5, 1906, she was a lifelong resident of Stanberry. She was a graduate of the Stanberry high school. Mrs. Kurtright was a member of the First Christian Church, Stanberry; E&E Club and 3PW Club. On Oct. 30, 1924, she married James M. Kurtright in King City. He preceded her in death in 1956. Mrs. Kurtright also was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde E. and Margaret A. Butterbaugh and two brothers and an infant sister. Survivors include a son, Bob Kurtright; four grandchildren; six great- grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held on May 8 at the Johnson Funeral Home with burial in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry. Memorials may be sent to the First Christian Church, Stanberry.
