Mrs. Lucy A. LaJoie, wife of J. F. (Ted) LaJoie, died about 8:13 o'clock Saturday morning at their farm home about 2 1/2 miles southwest of Stanberry. She had been in failing health for more than a year. Funeral rites were held for her Monday morning at St. Peter's Chatholic church, conducted by the Rev. Fr. Peter B. O'Rourke. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery here. Almost a lifelong resident of Gentry county, she was born near Ford City on Feb. 14, 1899, and, with the exception of six years spent in Kansas City, the remainder of their life had been spent in this county. She and Mr. LaJoie purchased the C. S. Allen farm southwest of Stanberry upon their return from Kansas City in 1947 and had made their home there from that time. She was 52 years old at the itme of her death and was a loyal member of St. Peter's church and of the Altar society of that church. She was the daughter of the late Wm. A. and Mrs. Mary A. Handley, Mrs. Handley now resides at King City. She was married to Mr. LaJoie on Mar. 30, 1921. Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by one son, James W. LaJoie, of Linden, Mo.; three brothers, Thomas, James and Lawrence Handley, all of King City; seven sisters, Mrs. Fred Conrad, Clarinda, Ia.; Mrs. James Lawler, Westside, Ia.; Mrs. Elma Diss and Mrs. Leonard Steinhauser, Stanberry; Mrs. Anthony Steinhauser, Parnell; Miss Roberta Handley, King City, and Mrs. Ben Wiederholt, Maryville; and one grandchild.
