Leighninger, 76, Stanberry, died Sept. 24, 1999, at Gentry County Memorial Hospital in Albany. Mr. Leighninger owned and operated Vogt Poultry Co. in Stanberry and served as the Stanberry City Clerk before retiring. Born in Nevada on Sept. 15, 1923, he served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Stanberry United Methodist Church and Raymond Sager American Legion Post No. 260 in Stanberry. On March 23, 1945, he married Harriet Vogt. She survives at the home. Additional survivors include two sons, David Leighninger of Neosho and Daniel Leighninger of Indianapolis, IN.; a daughter, Robin Bunch, Cherokee, IA.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Leighninger was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Marie Walker Leighninger and a brother, Charles M. Leighninger. Funeral services were held on Sept. 26 at the Stanberry United Methodist Church with burial in High Ridge Cemetery. Military rites were by the members of the Raymond Sager American Legion Post. Arrangements were handled by the Roberson-Polley Chapel in Stanberry. Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church in Stanberry.
