News-Press; Wednesday, May 26, 2004: Twilla I. Lewis 1937 - 2004: Cosby, Mo. - Mrs. Twilla I. Lewis, 66, Cosby, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at a St. Joseph hospital. Mrs. Lewis was the bookkeeper for the family business, Lewis Backhoe. She was born June 17, 1937, in Gentry County, Mo., and had lived in Cosby for over 40 years. On June 14, 1954, she married Marion Levain Lewis; He survives of the home. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Russell and Allie Elizabeth (Walker) Murphy; daughter, Pamela Kay Lewis in 1956; brother, James Robert Murphy in 1997; and granddaughter, Pamela LaVonne Lewis in 1977. Twilla was a member of McCarthy Baptist Church. Additional survivors: two sons, Howard Lewis and his wife Kim, St. Joseph, and Steven Lewis, Cosby; daughter, LaVonne Andrew and husband Jeff, Cosby; sister, Margaret Clutter, Nebraska City, Neb.; seven Grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Friday Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service. Interment: High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, Mo. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service where friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday.
