All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Tri-County News, Gentry County Missouri, Friday, December 22, 2000: Von Neil McCarty, 80, Stanberry, died Dec. 14, 2000, at her home in Stanberry. Born at the family farm in Wilson Township, north of Alanthus Grove, she was a graduate of Stanberry high school. Mrs. McCarty had been an office manager for the Pioneer Cap Co. in Stanberry from 1955 to 1967. In 1967, she joined her husband, Charles, as co-owner of the McCarty Farm Loan Co., where she was active until her death. Mrs. McCarty was a member of the First Christian Church, Stanberry, where she was a deacon and trustee; a past regent of the Virginia Daughters of the American Revolution; Pine View Manor Auxiliary; Missouri Master Alpha Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Through the Daughters of the American Revolution she compiled a list of all the births, deaths and marriages in Gentry County from 1977 through 1999. On Oct. 29, 1939, she married Charles J. McCarty in Stanberry. He survives at the home. Additional survivors include a daughter, Kathy Pratt, Stanberry; two sons, James McCarty, New London, MO. and Larry McCarty, Stanberry; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bernadine Munger; a sister, Verna Lee Hall and two step-brothers, Russell and Vincent Munger. Funeral services were held on Dec. 17 at the First Christian Church in Stanberry, under the direction of the Roberson-Polley Funeral Home. Burial was in High Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or St. Francis Hospital Hospice in Maryville.
