Berniece (Phillips) McGinley, 88, Wichita, KS., formerly of Stanberry, died Aug. 3, 2001, at a Wichita health care center. Born Jan. 3, 1913, in Alanthus, MO., she was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church, Stanberry. On June 28, 1930, she married William V. McGinley in Darlinton. He preceded her in death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mayme (Miller) Phillips; a son, Vernon McGinley; a sister, Bonnie Huff; a brother, Melvin Phillips and two grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Lloyd McGinley, Wichita and Phillip McGinley, Sr., Mesa, AZ.; a daughter, Marilyn Peterman, Sedalia; a brother, Merlin Phillips, Kansas City; a sister, Eula Peterson, Stanberry; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Aug. 6 at the First Baptist Church in Stanberry, under the direction of Roberson-Polley Chapel, Stanberry. Burial was in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry. Memorials may be given to the Stanberry First Baptist Church.
