The daughter of John and Nannie Laura Smith; she was born April 2, 1927, in Tattnall County, GA. Jo was united in marriage to Kenneth Misemer on Feb. 2, 1946 in Orlando, FL. They were married 56 years. They began married life on a farm northeast of Stanberry, living there for seven years. The family then moved to Independence, where she was a professional secretary for most of her adult life. In Independence she worked for the School Board of Education and Phillips Petroleum. After 13 years in Independence, her husband was transferred to Wichita, KS., where she worked for Cessna Aircraft Co., until her retirement in 1984. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Clinton Smith. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, of the home in Wichita; a daughter, Elaine Hilburn, Tuttle, OK.; two sons, Marvin Misemer, Blue Springs and Keith Misemer, Bridgeport, CT.; two sisters, Eugenia Sullivan, Albany, GA. and Nan Dickey, Marietta, GA. and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Oct. 28 at Roberson-Polley Chapel in Albany. Burial was in High Ridge cemetery, Stanberry.
