All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: Don Raymond The Stanberry Headlight, Gentry County, Missouri, Thursday, February 1, 1962, front page: Rites for Mrs. Bertha Murphy: Final services were held Sunday afternoon in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel For Mrs. Bertha May Murphy, 82, a lifelong resident of Gentry county, who was taken by death Saturday in a Stanberry rest home. The rites were conducted by the Rev. Charles E. Chandler, pastor of the Stanberry Christian church, and burial was in High Ridge cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Lowell Murphy, Bethany, and Laurel Murphy, Stanberry; a brother, Frank Edwards, Sheridan, Mo.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Murphy, daughter of the late Thomas Marion and Lydia Edwards, was born Oct. 4, 1879, in Gentry county. She and the late John S. Murphy were united in marriage on Nov. 14, 1909, in Alanthus. They made their home in the Black Oak and Enyart communities for many years. Mr. Murphy preceded her in death Feb. 10, 1961. She was a member of the Stanberry Christian church.
