The Tri-County News, Gentry County Missouri, Friday, October 4, 2002:
George E. Murphy, 65, died September 28, 2002, at a St. Joseph hospital.

The son of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Goucher) Murphy, he was born January
25, 1937 in Stanberry.
A graduate of Stanberry high school he was a retired warrant officer in the
US Army, had taught for  Central  Texas  College  and  Maryville  Technical
Institute. He retired in 2001.

In 1958, he married Margot H. Eggert. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors:  two  daughters,  Sylvia  Kammer  and  Linda  Hughes,
Stanberry; two sisters, Mary Updegraff, Bethany and Jean Stollee,  Moberly;
two brothers, Bob Murphy,  Stanberry  and  Bill  Murphy,  Gentry;  and  two
grandchildren.

Funeral services were October 2,  2002,  with  Military  Rites,  under  the
direction of  Roberson-Polley  Chapel,  Stanberry;  burial  at  High  Ridge
Cemetery, Stanberry.
